MY CLOSET: Layered Patterns
Monday, April 13, 2015
Hey there Spring, I'm really enjoying NOT having to dress like a marshmallow. It's good times. I've still been wearing lots of black and whites (grays too) while adding pops of color. With this look, I'm also adding pops of random patterns...Leopard, polkadots and plaid. All in one outfit. Yes, yes, & yes ...I did that and I highly recommend it. Also, I'm super diggin my new slate blue hair!
Outfit details below.
Hat: ASOS /// Sunglasses: ASOS (Minkpink) /// Crop Top: Nasty Gal /// Polkadot Button Up: Express (Gabes) /// Coated Biker Pants: Madewell /// Leopard Boots: Nasty Gal Shoe Cult

I've been gushing over this Ombre Popsicle Spell Dress from UrbanOG. This bodycon midi dress would be super cute to wear for a night out as is with simple accessories...but I, of course, had to uniquely style it. I paired it with some loud patterned tights and a polka dot head scarf. These funky accessories make this dress more of a casual street style. The white and black accents also add another graphic punch to this look. Check out more outfit details below!
Head Scarf: Old Navy (old) /// Statement Necklace: buy here /// Gold Clip Earrings: (Vintage) The Hidden Pearl /// Sunglasses: ZeroUV /// Fringe Bag: Banyan Tree /// Geometric Tights: Karmaloop /// White Peep Toe Ankle Boots: Qupid

Here's a Spring & Summer favorite of mine, matching separates. The most popular style I'm seeing everywhere is the fitted bodycon...decked out in awesome 90's patterns, of course. I'm having flashbacks of Clueless episodes as I write this...and I love it. Don't be scared to match it up and wear bold patterns.

I could shop on Etsy all day. I not only love to see what others are creating but I love hunting for amazing vintage items as well. I thought I'd share some of my favorites I've been eyeing the past few days...vintage abstract. So colorful. So unique. I need some of these pieces in my wardrobe! Check out these seller's shops and items and let them know how fabulous they are! 1: Kaleidoo /// 2: KFT Vintage /// 3: Dead Girls Vintage /// 4: Dust to Diamonds (note: photos belong to the seller)

This oversized trend is nothing new...but survival mode takes over when it's freezing out. Anything that looks or feels like a blanket, I've been wearing it. Heck, I'll straight up wear blankets. Just a warning, you'll be seeing a lot of outfit posts this winter with me wearing get up like this. Be best buds with blankets, you won't regret it.

Mixing prints and patterns, how can you say no? There's nothing wrong with a little visual textural overload. The key is to just mix different sizes of patterns. As far as colors, for this outfit I stuck with neutrals (I think I'm going to start phasing out my bright colors)....yep, mixed brown and black. Also, I love this top, just not on me...I guess it's not so flattering on a curveless body that looks as if it should belong to a 12 year old boy. ; )

Warning: color and pattern overload. I was inspired by the top image...pattern formed by layered color. It made my head explode a little bit, in a good way of course. Naturally, I wanted more of this eye candy... so I hunted up some similar items. Below are links to the fun finds
1. Geometric Leather Fringe Earrings /// 2. Chloe Color Block Leather Envelope Purse /// 3. Herve Ledger Color Block Dress /// 4. Whorled Felt Rug /// 5. Rebecca Minkoff Uma Flats /// 6. iPhone Color Block and Studded Case
